EMERGENCY – HURRICANE HELENE DAMAGE

Early Friday morning, Hurricane Helene devastated The Almost Home Wellness Center, Home for Good Dog Rescue’s sister location in Aiken, South Carolina. Our team is facing a critical situation: We officially have zero water and no electricity, with no expected return for weeks. There is no way for our staff to clean kennels. Thereโ€™s no air conditioning, and the temperatures are rising rapidly. Our outdoor dog pens and fencing have been completely destroyed. Most of our Aiken team members cannot even reach the facility due to downed trees and power lines throughout Aiken County. We cannot do laundry. Our kennels cannot be cleaned appropriately. The situation currently is EMERGENT and DIRE.

As many of you know, we rescue all of our dogs from high-kill shelters in Georgia and South Carolina. Before coming to New Jersey, each dog is brought to our Almost Home Wellness Center, where they receive all medical care, temperament testing, and begin basic training. If you adopted a dog from us, your dog passed through the Almost Home Wellness Center.

We are preparing for an EMERGENCY air and ground transport to get ALL of our dogs to safety next week. One of our incredible volunteer pilots has generously offered to fly our smaller dogs to safety, and an additional ground transport will bring the remaining dogs. Both the plane and our transport van will be stocked with essential supplies on the way down and returning next week with every one of our dogs. We urgently need fosters, as we have over 70 dogs in immediate need of placement. Please see the list below of most urgently needed donations.

We desperately need families to step up and help foster these dogs. If you’ve ever considered fostering, now is the time. These transports will include a variety of puppies and adult dogs of all ages and sizes; see photos below with just a few of the 70 dogs that need your help. This is a true emergency, and your help is essential to getting these dogs to safety.

Please act nowโ€”these dogs’ lives depend on it.

ALL FOSTER DOG FOOD, CRATE, TOYS, (and medications if applicable) WILL BE PROVIDED!

If you are able to foster for this transport, please fill out a foster application found directly on our website, https://homeforgooddogs.org/foster-application/. or notify HFGDR immediately. **Please make sure to note in the application that you are interested in fostering a Hurricane Helene Dog!**

We thank you for your continuous support. Any and all help is always appreciated!
