Foster Spotlight: Ella Coscia

Foster Spotlight: Ella Coscia tells the story of how one small “yes” became a life-changing journey. A year and a half ago, after buying their first home, Ella asked her husband, James, if they could try fostering a dog through Home for Good Dog Rescue. The couple had adopted their beloved Bosco in 2021 and wanted to give back to the rescue that had given them so much.

“James agreed we could try it once,” Ella recalls. “Our home has since been a part of 46 dogs’ journeys to their forever families!”

From that very first foster, everything changed. What began as a single act of kindness soon became a family passion. Their home—now also shared with Sammy, another Home for Good alum they adopted a year ago—has become a safe, loving place for dogs who need a second chance.

Our family absolutely loves being a safe place for dogs to land after hard beginnings,” Ella says. “We even featured all of our foster dogs at our wedding this past May because they all mean so much to us! Everyone loved seeing their adorable faces.”

For Ella, every foster brings both love and growth. Letting go is never easy, but the reward makes it worth it.

If you think you can’t foster because you’ll be heartbroken to let them go, give it a shot,” she encourages. “You’ll quickly see that the joy of watching a dog meet their forever family will always outweigh the sadness of goodbye. I love getting the text that my foster dog has a meet and greet!”

At Home for Good Dog Rescue, we make fostering easy, accessible, and supported. We provide supplies, cover medical costs, and offer training and community guidance. Every foster parent is part of a team that works together to save lives.

Ella’s story reminds us that fostering changes everything—for dogs and for people. It turns compassion into action, sadness into joy, and love into countless new beginnings.
