Home for Good Foster Spotlight: Meet Karen DeBernardis and Her Family
In this Home for Good foster spotlight, we are proud to recognize Karen DeBernardis and her family as our September/October Foster of the Month. Karen first connected with Home for Good Dog Rescue when she adopted Mayzie in 2015 and Toby in 2017. “It’s always been important to us to adopt from a rescue,” Karen shares. “The love that these two show is truly special from the moment we brought them home. Our hearts break for all those in shelters. If we could save them all, we would.”
Karen was inspired to foster after meeting the family who had cared for Toby as a puppy. “It’s been a joy knowing that the first people to love him have watched him grow up via social media,” she explains. With that in mind, her family decided to give back by becoming fosters themselves. Their very first foster arrived last September, and they quickly fell in love with the experience. “Although it is hard to give them up, it is rewarding knowing that we loved them as our own and helped prepare them for their forever home,” Karen says. “Our hearts are full knowing we are helping these babies. Each one of them will hold a piece of our hearts forever.”
