National Adopt a Senior Pet Month

National Adopt a Senior Pet Month is a time to celebrate older dogs and remind us how special they are. Sadly, senior dogs often wait the longest in shelters. Many watch as younger dogs are adopted before them. At Home for Good Dog Rescue, we currently have [X] senior dogs hoping for a forever home.

Across the country, adoption rates for senior dogs are much lower than for puppies. Many people overlook them simply because of age. But older dogs have so much love to give. Most are already trained, calm, and ready to be loyal companions from day one.

Adopting a senior dog can be one of the most rewarding decisions you’ll ever make. They are grateful for care, easy to settle in, and often form deep, lasting bonds with their families.

Here’s how you can help make a difference this November:

  • Adopt a senior dog: Give a loving home to a dog who needs a second chance.

  • Foster: Open your home temporarily and provide care, love, and socialization.

  • Volunteer: Help with transport, dog care, or events to support our mission.

  • Donate: Contribute supplies, food, or funds to help provide medical care and comfort.

  • Share our mission: Spread the word on social media to help senior dogs find their forever homes.

Every action, big or small, helps senior dogs experience comfort, love, and hope in their golden years. By participating in National Adopt a Senior Pet Month, you can help these amazing dogs find the homes they deserve.
