Home for Good Dog Rescue on Live with Kelly and Mark on May 20th, 2026 was one of the most extraordinary days. Six adoptable dogs walked onto the set of one of the most watched morning shows in the country. They represented everything we believe about rescue dogs. By the end of the week, three of them had found their forever families.
The Segment — Dog Summer Safety with Dr. Will Draper
Home for Good Dog Rescue joined veterinarian and animal expert Dr. Will Draper for a dog summer safety segment. His tips covered everything dog owners need to know heading into the summer months — heat safety, hydration, the pavement test, the dangers of leaving dogs in parked cars, and the warning signs of heat stroke. Our six dogs brought the charm. Dr. Draper brought the expertise. Together, they made for compelling and genuinely useful television.
Watching our dogs with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos was something none of us on the HFGDR team will ever forget. The warmth both hosts brought to every dog was real. This was not a television performance. It was genuine.
A Star-Studded Backstage
What happened on set was incredible. What happened backstage was something else entirely.
Ariel Winter, best known for her role as Alex Dunphy on Modern Family and the voice of Sophia The First, spent time with our dogs backstage and called it the best day of her life. As a self described dog mom, her connection with our dogs was immediate and completely real. With genuine enthusiasm and extraordinary kindness, she loved on every dog in a way that moved every member of our team who witnessed it. Her warmth left a mark on all of us.
David Duchovny also stopped by and spent time with Jet and Sangria. He gave both dogs his full attention. Jet was delighted. Sangria, true to form, made sure she was not left out.
Leo Woodall from White Lotus crouched down to meet Sangria. The moment was warm, and completely unscripted.
Three celebrated actors. Six rescue dogs. One extraordinary afternoon backstage at a national television studio.
The Week That Followed
The response from viewers was immediate. Applications arrived within hours of the segment airing. By the end of the week, Mellow, Murray and Harper had found their forever families — a direct result of their Live with Kelly and Mark appearance and the generosity of viewers who watched and then acted.
Jet, Sangria, and Chai are still looking for their people. All three appeared on Live with Kelly and Mark on May 20th and all three are available for adoption right now. Visit HomeForGoodDogs.org to meet them and apply.
Thank You
None of this happens without the foster families who opened their homes to these six dogs while they waited. Every dog who walked onto that set on May 20th started their journey in a foster home right here in New Jersey. Consequently, fostering makes everything possible at Home for Good Dog Rescue — and this week proved exactly that.
Thank you to the entire team at Live with Kelly and Mark for having us. Thank you to Dr. Will Draper for his expertise and warmth. Beyond that, thank you to Ariel Winter, David Duchovny, and Leo Woodall for the extraordinary backstage moments none of us saw coming. And thank you to every viewer who watched, shared, and showed up for our dogs.
This was a day we will never forget. For our dogs, we hope it changed everything. For three of them, it already did.
