Dog rescue veterinarian tips are now coming directly to the Home for Good Dog Rescue community. We could not be more excited about the voice behind them. Dr. Will Draper, founder and director of The Village Vets in metro Atlanta, Georgia, is officially lending his expertise to HFGDR and bringing it to the broader rescue community. You may recognize Dr. Draper from Disney+’s Love & Vets and Live with Kelly and Mark. Five of our rescue dogs — Chai, Harper, Mellow, Murray, and Sangria — joined him on set on Live with Kelly & Mark earlier this year. Watching those dogs shine on national television alongside someone of Dr. Draper’s caliber made this collaboration feel like the most natural next step.
We are thrilled to welcome him!
Who Is Dr. Will Draper
Dr. Draper has practiced veterinary medicine for more than 30 years. He graduated from Tuskegee University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Afterward, he founded The Village Vets in Atlanta — a group of AAHA-accredited practices dedicated to exceptional care for pets and the people who love them. In 2007, he opened Georgia’s first and only AAHA-accredited small-animal after-hours emergency facility.
Atlanta Magazine has recognized The Village Vets as Best Vets consistently since 2001. Purina Pro Plan honored Dr. Draper as National Veterinarian of the Year.
Beyond the practice, Dr. Draper served as a featured veterinary expert on WebMD. He co-starred as an analyst on Nat Geo WILD’s Animal ER Live and appeared regularly on Live with Kelly and Mark. Most recently, you can find him on Disney+ in Love and Vets, where he stars alongside his wife and veterinary partner, Dr. Françoise Tyler.
Dr. Draper has spent his career making expert pet care accessible, understandable, and actionable for everyday dog owners. That mission fits naturally with Home for Good Dog Rescue and the greater rescue community.
Why This Collaboration Matters
Rescue dogs sometimes arrive with unique health histories. They may have spent time outdoors. Some went without consistent veterinary care. Others never had someone paying close attention to how they felt. The guidance Dr. Draper brings here will reflect the full picture of what these dogs need — not just general pet care, but care that accounts for the realities of rescue.
People who open their homes to foster and adopt rescue dogs are doing something extraordinary. They deserve expert veterinary knowledge — the same quality they would get sitting across from Dr. Draper in an exam room. That is exactly what this friendship delivers.
What Is Coming
This is just the beginning. Dr. Draper will start with “Summer Dog Safety Tips,” drawn directly from his recent Live with Kelly and Mark segment. Keep checking back for more expert veterinary guidance on the topics that matter most to the rescue community — seasonal health, preventive care, and recognizing warning signs.
Every piece of content Dr. Draper contributes will be practical and clear, built around one goal: helping rescue dogs live their longest, healthiest, happiest lives.
A Note on This Content
The information Dr. Draper shares here is for general awareness only. It does not replace the advice of your personal veterinarian. Every dog is different. Always consult your own veterinarian for guidance specific to your dog’s needs. If you ever have concerns, do not wait — contact your veterinarian immediately.
We are thrilled to have Dr. Draper in our corner. Stay tuned for more.
